On May 1st The People's Liberation Big Band of Greater Kansas City will present our 2011 International Workers Day Celebration at the RecordBar in Kansas City.  This year's Workers Day Celebration will include newly arranged selections from "Threepenny Opera," excerpts from "Battleship Potemkin," and a lively musical debate on the subject of intellectual property and copyright law.


 The People's Liberation Big Band's 17 piece ensemble will be joined by guest vocalists Annie Ellicott, Shay Estes and Nathan Granner.


 It is important to the social mission of The People's Liberation Big Band that we maintain a low worker-friendly ticket price, thus allowing the workers of Kansas City easy access to the morale-building experimental jazz they need and love.


 However, this social commitment means that ticket sales alone will not adequately pay all of the musicians and arrangers involved in the International Workers Day Celebration.  That why we're asking for your additional support in funding The People's Liberation Big Band's 2011 Workers Day Celebration.
